1. how does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it present social groups or issues? · When challenging the conventions of our film we used the flash back method of showing what happened that night then earlier in the day. We did this by within the first few minutes we showed the after math of the old couple’s party of the trashed pool area with the husband pasted out in the pool. Then it jumps to the morning of the old couple moving in.2. · The social class our film represents is the average working family with kids. This family has two average parents were the husband works and the mom stays home with their three kids. While we also have an older couple that represents the older generation that is trying to me hip and tech savvy with the growing generation 2.How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text? · ...

Throughout this process, I was able to learn the various techniques to make the beginning of a film from the technology to the camera I was able to learn a lot. When it came to making the film I was able to edit with the help of my teammates. I never knew how to use the editing software but youtube, my teacher, and my teammates helped me out on putting together this film. At the beginning of the film, we were able to add background music/incidental music during the drone scenes, that set the time, place and mood of the film. That sound was taken from a copyright free website. During the process I can clearly state that I had a role in the production of the film between primarily shooting the film, helping produce/ edit our film and also direct.

Bad Moms was a hit comedy that was released in 2016. Which gravitated moms from all over to come to the movie theater. This film was a movie about three overwhelmed and overworked moms that just wanted to be perfect for their kids. Then one day they said forget it and set aside their conventional responsibilities for a little freedom and fun. This film did your more traditional movie distribution route of going to the theaters then On Demand and DVD rental/buy. Bad Moms took off like a shot, first signing domestic rights to Paramount Pictures. This allowed them to play the movie in a theater. STX Entertainment later bought the distribution rights to the film on August 19, 2016, and then released the film July 29, 2016. Bad Moms did not release on to Blu-ray and DVD until November 1, 2016, by Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The box office sales did so well at getting a gross a$113.2 million in the US against their budget of $20 million. Also receiving $183.9 million wo...

The more traditional distribution process is to send it straight to movie theater and then get it on blue ray or DVD but technology has been progressing and streaming organizations have been growing. One in particular would be Netflix. this company is continuing to grow with the process that they are looking forward towards the future in the sense of possibly taking control of the cinematic distribution. Netflix is a streaming service that allows people to view different TV shows and movies. Sometimes the Netflix will get the rights to air the movie the same day it comes out in the IMAX movie theaters. Our film opening we a constructing together is based on a comedy genre which Netflix could be a huge distribution path we could go down. Netflix just recently announced a deal with Adam Sandler which allows Netflix to air any of his comedy's for the next four years. They are trying to not only distribute certain films but also become down the road and one stop shop for production and...

Distribution is a very tedious process in getting the movie from the studio to the theaters. While process is your more traditional way of distribution. The first step to the distribution process in a film would be selling the rights. Before hitting that single red button on the camera usually a large movie production company has bought the film rights to the film. The second step would be to find a distribution company to secure a licensing agreement. An example would be The Walt Disney Company which distributes all film content of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Third step consists of finding a Producer Representative where they work with a film booker to secure leasing agreement to the distribution companies. When negotiating with a film dealer, usually movies have the distribution company host a movie screening to prospective buyers representing the theaters. The mail film theater companies that would have representatives would be AMC, Regal and Cinemark. They are know as the ...

When we presented to the class we got some feed back on our film which consisted of the comments that in our dialogue scene the characters say to much which gives away to much of the plot. After talking it over with my group we decided on taking out the meeting all together and just have the two couples talk to one another about the other couple. They will eventually meet towards the end of the film but not in the beginning that we have to make. We decided to just add a shot conversation with the young couple in their car before they decided to go into the store to buy food for dinner.

When looking back at our film, we felt that the beginning was very choppy. Our group which consisted of Ayden, Kelsey and I go together to brain storm what we could change so it would flow better together. We were looking at some comedy films and noticed that some beginnings had drone fly overs to give an establishing shot of the environment that the film will be set in. We wanted to follow that artistic view point the drone gave. My cousin got a drone for Christmas so we went through a crash course on how to fly the drone and record the footage we wanted to gather. We meet and decided to re shoot to introduction into the film which is the morning after shoots in the script. We went through man takes since the drone would die quickly and trying to fly it is highly difficult to keep the drone steady since there was a little bit of wind blowing on the day we decided to shoot.

The final film we decided to look into was Ferris Bueller's Day off marketing techniques. Their target audience was aimed towards teens to adults which is similar to our target audience we are reaching for. This movie is about a high school kid, Ferris, and his adventures of his day off from school. While his sister, Jenny, tries to prove that he is faking being sick. The film used different marketing techniques like movie posters, commercials and billboards to advertise their film. These are all great techniques that our group might use. We were thinking of hitting to social media since in this century social media is the hot topic with teens and adults.

As we are looking into more marketing techniques by different movies we dive into Ghostbusters. This movie is about five women fighting ghosts in their city, however the original one is about five guys fighting ghosts in their city. Their target audience is similar to our opening because they are gearing towards teens and young adults in a comedy film and so is ours. Ghostbusters was advertised by using television channels like NBC and ABC particularly their morning TV shows. The stars to the movie also would go to their phones to draw in people to come to the premier or to watch the film. I would use these same marketing techniques to persuade people into wanting to watch our film. One I would add would be to air it on a radio station since people are constantly driving in cars listening to the radio so it would grab a wide range of audience.

Today, my group talked about what would be our target audience. During the process of this film we wanted to address it to all ages from teens to grandparents. The atmosphere between the older couple and the younger couple grabs the attention of both those type of audiences. Our movie is unique than other comedy movies because of the fact that you would never of guessed that the older couple would be the party animals. The genre of comedy can be braked down by age from young kids rating the movie at PG however I believe our film shows some provocative scenes referencing to drinking or drug use. This being said the PG-13 to R rated movie would be the route we would go. Once we have decided our target audience we now have to market towards that type of audience. We have a large range for our audience from teens to grandparents so we have to market to both extremes. While older people listen to cable news and teens listen more to the radio we have to address both ways to get our...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Pq5-Bx8pH4 Our rough draft is attached. Today we edited our film which was a very slow tedious process with the program we used. We filmed multiple shots so we could just grab the ones we wanted to use for the end film. The film was first 4 mins long, but after editing we got it down to a little over 2 minutes. During the production of the film we encountered some difficulties. Some of these difficulties were arranging a time that would not infer with the younger kids napping schedule. The camera also died on us resulting in the usage of a phone, which gave the same quality as the camera. Every member in the group did something to make sure the filming of the project went smoothly. We wanted to make sure everyone got a turn in filming the film in some way and to also have their input in the editing of the video.

Throughout this film, we knew we wanted to cast a young couple and an old couple. We gather a lot of applications to star in our opening, so we had to have an audition to determine who would star in our film. For our old couple we decided to go with For our Young couple we went with Ron and Jean. They showed the most Hannah and Dante. They showed enthusiastic since we were looking for the serious we needed in a young wild and free older couple. ...

This is our rough draft script. When filming we want to follow the script but also want to allow the characters to adventure out and explore more into their part. My part with making up the script was the part scene. While Ayden and Kelsey worked out the publix scene. We threw all our ideas together and came up with the lines that the actors would say. To find the perfect location for our movie we toured multiple houses backyards to stage the perfect party scene. Below are examples of some locations we went to look at. We decided to pick the location on the right since it has the large backyard we were looking for. We also used our local grocery store to shoot the scene where the family and the old couple would shop for their necessary needs.

The directors for the opening to our short film, Ayden Spitz, Kelsey Drummond and I decided to draw and create the story board before writing our script to have a visual aid or all out ideas that were being thrown around. The story board is a graphic organizer of hand drawn illustrations that display the sequence in which the events will occur on the screen. Kelsey was the artistic one in the group that illustrated our thoughts and ideas while Ayden and I laid them out on the table.
