Distribution is a very tedious process in getting the movie from the studio to the theaters. While process is your more traditional way of distribution. The first step to the distribution process in a film would be selling the rights. Before hitting that single red button on the camera usually a large movie production company has bought the film rights to the film. The second step would be to find a distribution company to secure a licensing agreement. An example would be The Walt Disney Company which distributes all film content of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Third step consists of finding a Producer Representative where they work with a film booker to secure leasing agreement to the distribution companies. When negotiating with a film dealer, usually movies have the distribution company host a movie screening to prospective buyers representing the theaters.
